Yes there is more,  as you can see we got there pretty early and for much of lunch we had the restaurant to ourselves.

image

The appetizers,  yah,  my suggestion is for you to just drive into the steam Molo and Sisig shooters.  The rest are fillers for me.

image

Sisig shooters anyone,  Sisig on a crip tart and shot down with soy sauce.

image

Fried stuff and sauces,  try the orange chili sauce it’s good!

image

What would dessert be with out halo-halo hehehe.  shooters but still Halo-halo, the shaved ice and mixed of sweetened milk will make you go back for seconds.

Directions and menu prices.

So if your looking for volume Filipino food, are willing to pay a little extra and get properly prepared Filipino food we recommend dropping by Casa Filipino.

Cake Club in Diamond Hotel Manila !!!

Cake Club now open at Diamond Hotel , what up Manila !!!

I’m really wondering why we are happy about this , its like we kissed all our saved up cash and calories goodbye.

We would like to think it’s because Manila has more choices now! and that we don’t have to go through the hassle of braving traffic swamped roads to satisfy our sweet tooth.

It is Best to come here in the evening , to chill out with friends and avail of their discounted items! 30-50% if we are not mistaken . We love going to hotels around the area at night specially when they have their cakes and pastries on sale… Its mostly between 7-8 pm . you can check out Sofitel , Hyatt and Manila Hotel too they offer the same deals.

Introducing the sinfully delicious foie gras macaroon, its so good that we had to close the box. ( yes we ate everything and forgot to take photos)

We first saw this at run around girl’s post and got curious as to what it would taste like ? one thing led to another and we found ourselves stuck in traffic and going to Fort. Still worth the hassle …but now even better since they have it in Manila .

Which makes me think , why aren’t more of these cafe’s and bakeries opening up in Manila ? we have the most of universities , we have a sizable middle to high income families as well as a slur of government officials who are more than willing to pay for the good stuff ?

Going back, to cake club , they are to the left of Diamond Hotel’s main entrance.

Some of the cakes and pastries available at the cake club / coffee shop at the hotel lobby .

Try the Le Royale , its crazy good ! like a creamier ferrero chocolate ball with a hint of bitterness .

They also have an assortment of ice cream

In case you have questions you can reach them at

Diamond Hotel Philippines at (632) 528-3000

Li Li’s dim sum buffet at Hyatt Manila DSS 1

Jumping straight to the good stuff, Stir-Fried Vegetables in Garlic

veggies veggies veggies

A dish so good it should come with a warning label, we know

  • this dish ain’t a looker and most people aren’t looking at their basic food groups when eating in a buffet but …… this dish has character . Imagine… Crisp uniformed strips of cabbage masterfully stir-fried to retain their texture, lightly seasoned and cooked off with a superior stock ( or broth cubes but hey it’s there secret) which brings out its natural sweetness. This dish is simple, tasty and will keep you ordering for more , just like all the other items at Li Li’s menu.

Li Li’s dim sum lunch buffet starts of with a friendly wait staff handing you a check list menu , you fill in the boxes with the dimsums you want to try. It’s a pretty long list and everything is usually freshly steamed so better order up just for good measure. Average serving time is about 5-20 minutes .

Complimentary peanuts and picked vegetables are included, we call these fillers .

First to arrive were the Har Gaw , Shrimp with bamboo shoot and Dumplings with Bamboo Pith ,Carrots and Celery , they went down really fast.

See below; Har Gaw aka. Ha Kaw thats a whole shrimp in there…. Yumm

Next stop… Xiao Long Bao , pockets of seasoned ground up pork which produces soup when steamed… you might want to suck up on that soup before you dig in. Make sure not to burn yourself.

Fungus and Vegetable Congee and Chicken in Fa Du Wine Sauce

Deep fried taro dumplings with assorted seafood

    Ozzing goodness inside

Steamed spare ribs with red dates

Sio Mai , Steamed chicken fee in abalone sauce , deep fried bicho-bicho with shrimp in wasabi-mayonnaise sauce and radish cake all a must try so dig in .

What half a Sio Mai looks like.

And my partners favorite… White Chocolate Mochi , one of a kind , imagine soft munchi mochi (rice balls) stuffed with white chocolate and covered with nuts . Delicious !

Not your everyday almond cocktail ,

Baked barbecue pastry puff, sweet and savory chinese BBQ stuffed in a crisp filo-pastry crust brushed off with a sweet glaze and sesame seeds. Like we said earlier , order up , these delicious babies came extremely late .

Like all good things in life, everything comes to a sharp end . We spent close to 900 php per head but it was all well spent, for the food , service and ambiance we definitely got quite a bang for our buck.

Li Li’s offers Sunday bunch with the inclusion of guava iced tea and more dishes , cost a little bit more than your Monday – Saturday menu but we think it’s a good buy . Recently deal grocer was offering this buffet for around 995php which is a possible steal net of taxes and all.

They have a pretty extensive selection of tea and the staff are well-trained in brewing Chinese-style tea service.

there are various function rooms in the restaurant, we suggest you try ” the library” . Sorry we don’t have a photo but if you have a 15 person guest list this room is perfect for you..

Yah my partner , the cutest thing in the world decided to prop up so we decided to include the stuff she brought along.

And the verdict, we think that this is still one of the best dim sum houses in the country , pretty big words but being there says it all , tasting the food is enough and the staff well trained.

The deal with Goose Station Fort

No Stranger to shoe string gluttony , we recently cashed in our coupons for The Goose Station (TGS) and as always we came out happier-fatter people.

    quack!

TGS for us is really one of the better western restaurants in the metro , because of their food ,ambiance and service. We particularly like how the wait staff tries to make each dinner a unique experience. From explaining each dish that will board your table, to indulging small requests for condiments that aren’t usually found on one’s table.

A minimalist entrance to an extravagant evening , leave your calorie counter at home!!!

Our coupon included a 3-course dinner with a happy ending. The deal is P1,250 for P2,100 and for us its a steal since it’s an excuse to splurge WITH SAVINGS!

Starting of with 3 kinds of bread, foccacia, some walnutty bread and one that i couldnt remember, toasted and served with creamy butter .

Next in line…. a TGS classic…. foie gras cone! It’s foie gras mousse coned using crispy filo pastry and topped with jam and hazelnut.

Once you pop you cant stop

We were then served with Various sampler appetizers ( no charge, yes! )

    Goodness Gracious

French Macaroon with Jamon , Potato Paper Crisps and a triple Corn Concoction. (still figuring out what’s in it )

The show stopper , the heart breaker (literally), The Eggs Benedict . Oozing custard-like goodness of egg topped with a rich truffle-infused Hollandaise sauce and pork crisp (bacon like) delicately set inside a cocktail glass .We have been patrons of TGS and this is one of our favorite.
    Food Porn Star

True to the tradition of less being more , they surprisingly served every one in this place with fresh grilled scallops plated with mayo, a few greens and nori crisp. (and yes! It’s free too)

On to the main course , chicken roulade served with squash puree and foie gras . Pan seared chicken wrapped with bacon , pistachios and is lightly seasoned to taste . Honestly in our experiences with TGS, after the appetizers…… the main course just gets you by .

Finally dessert , every big kids dinner . Cream cheese foam embellished with fresh berries and mixed berry candy…. giving any artisanal confectionery a run for its money .

And after desserts , we move to dinner sweets , a creamy chocolate truffle ball of oozing cocoa goodness . See that empty spoon, she ate it already.

The happy ending , each guest was given a box of gourmandise chocolate eclair with a cute alien fondant . Since its free we need not say more.

Our two cents on the deal and the goose station .
